Neuromuscular/TMJ Therapy

If you experience migraine headaches or pain in your neck, face, jaw, ear, or shoulder, you may have TMJ disorder caused by improper functioning of jaw muscles and nerves. Dr. Emami will perform a neuromuscular exam to assess jaw alignment and determine proper treatment. We use a Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation (TENS) unit to deliver low-frequency electrical impulses to your jaw muscles. In about an hour, your jaw muscles relax into their proper alignment.  After documenting the position of your jaw muscles and take impressions of your teeth, the data is used to create a custom orthotic to maintain proper jaw alignment and alleviate the painful symptoms of TMJ Disorder.

• Jaw clicking or popping
• Facial pain & headaches
• Neck, shoulder, or back pain
• Difficulty chewing or opening the mouth
• Ringing in the ears or tingling in the extremities
